Do you want to understand German and start speaking it from day one? The German A1.1 Certification Path combines flexible digital learning with ten interactive live sessions in a small group.

First, you independently build your language foundations on the Wissero platform. You then apply what you have learned with a qualified instructor and no more than eleven other learners. This turns vocabulary and grammar into real conversations.

No previous knowledge of German is required.

What you will learn in German A1.1

Step by step, you will learn to:

• greet people, introduce yourself and ask about names, origins and well-being;

• talk about your studies, profession or part-time job;

• spell names and use numbers confidently;

• describe your university routine and typical activities;

• talk about your language skills;

• describe rooms, furniture and your living situation;

• give times, days of the week and daily routines;

• communicate in simple situations involving food and drink;

• talk about past leisure activities;

• name means of transport and talk about simple journeys.

You will practise reading, listening and writing, with a particular focus on speaking in practical everyday situations.

The blended approach: prepare, speak and continue learning

1. Prepare flexibly in the app

Before each live session, you independently complete the relevant content on the Wissero platform — at your own pace, at a time and in a place that suit you.

This phase focuses on vocabulary, grammar, reading and listening, along with initial writing and speaking activities. Your AI tutor is available whenever you need help. The smart dictionary and clear explanations help you understand and review new content.

For writing and speaking tasks, you receive AI-powered feedback on vocabulary and grammar, as well as spelling or pronunciation.

2. Apply your knowledge in the live session

After preparing online, you meet your instructor and learning group for a 60-minute live session.

The main priority is simple: speak, speak, speak.

Through pair work, activities in groups of two or three and short presentations, you apply the content in meaningful communication. You practise real-life conversations, work on your pronunciation and become more confident when speaking freely.

Your instructor guides the activities, corrects errors and gives practical advice on pronunciation, vocabulary and expression.

3. Prepare for the next step

After the live session, you return to the platform, review important content and prepare the next unit. This creates a continuous rhythm of independent learning, practical application and professional feedback.

Ten live sessions in a small group

The course includes ten 60-minute live sessions with a maximum of twelve participants.

The first nine sessions reinforce the content of the nine topic-based units. The tenth session focuses on review and exam preparation.

To ensure that everyone can participate actively, the link for each live session is released only after you have completed the required digital content.

Activities and conversations take place mainly in German. Organisational information and additional explanations can be provided in English and, when needed, in Spanish, Italian, Arabic or Persian.

Qualified instructors

The live sessions are led by German-speaking instructors who:

• are native speakers of German;

• hold a master’s degree in German as a Foreign Language or an equivalent qualification;

• have at least three years of experience teaching foreign languages at university level.

You therefore receive both precise language corrections and methodologically sound support.

A clearly structured digital learning path

The digital course consists of nine units with three learning objectives each, followed by additional exam preparation.

Each objective takes you from an introduction to vocabulary and grammar and then to reading, listening, writing and speaking. The adaptive platform considers your progress and adjusts the depth of practice.

Allow approximately 30–45 minutes for each of the 27 learning objectives. This corresponds to around 13.5–20.25 hours of digital study, plus ten hours of live instruction, individual review and exam preparation.

Support in your preferred language

The exercises are in German. Platform explanations are available in English, Turkish, Arabic, Italian, Ukrainian, French, Spanish or Persian.

This allows you to work with German from the beginning while reading more complex explanations in a language you understand confidently.

Preparation for exam-style tasks

Once you have completed all preceding units, you gain access to the final exam preparation. It includes practice tasks based on UNIcert criteria and familiarises you with typical written and oral exam formats.

Wissero does not administer an official UNIcert examination. The preparation and practice tasks do not lead to an official UNIcert certificate. An official examination must be taken at an appropriately accredited university or institution.
